Chambers of AstinusThe DragonsDragons are an ancient and powerful reptilian race. They are widely known as being immense in size, power and intelligence and as skilled flyers. The dragons of Krynn are divided into two main groups, which are each broken down into five subspecies. There are several other types of dragons within Krynn which I shall detail as well. The main types of dragons are the metallic and the chromatic dragons. The chromatics are the evil dragons and consist of red, blue, black, green and white scaled dragons. The metallic are of good alignment and are comprised of gold, silver, bronze, copper and brass. All dragons possess the ability to humble other races, causing what is known as Dragonfear. All species of dragons also can attack with either talon/fang or with a breath weapon. Gold DragonsGold dragons are considered the wisest and most powerful of the good dragons. They are the symbols of goodness and strongly oppose any kind of injustice. Golds are naturally strong magic-users who use spells heavily during combat up to the 11th level. Their breath weapons are a cone of fire and a cloud of chlorine gas. Golds' natural abilities are conversing with animals, underwater breathing, immunity to fire and gas and polymorph ability (up to 3 times a day). Gold dragon habitats are often well guarded by animals or storm\cloud giants, such habitats can be in any type of climate or terrain. Silver DragonsSilver dragons are the most helpful and friendly towards the humanoid races, they choose to interact with other races far more than the other good subspecies. They are peace-loving and will not enter combat unless faced with a very aggressive/evil foe. Silvers generally cast spells at a magical ability of 6th level. Their breath weapons are a cone of cold and a cloud of paralyzing gas. Silver dragon abilities are immunity to cold, polymorph (up to 3 times a day) and being able to cloud walk (walk on clouds as if it was solid ground). Silver habitats are either in the clouds or in aerial lairs in lofty mountain peaks. Cloud lairs will always have an enchanted area where treasure and eggs can be safely stored. Silvers prefer human form moreso than any other type of dragon and often have human companions. Silvers often work/fight together in teams against their evil counterparts, and use human allies to assist them. Bronze DragonsBronze dragons, whilst not sharing deep relationships like silvers, are friendly towards many humanoid races. They enjoy mental challenges like riddles, and are intrigued by warfare to the point that they will join a good-aligned army (if the cause is honourable and the pay is good!). They also will often polymorph into small animals so they can watch humans and other races. Bronzes dislike killing creatures with animal intelligence, preferring to bribe them with food or to turn them away by other means. They use their ESP ability to discern the intentions of intelligent opponents. Bronzes can cast spells and use magical abilities at 8th level. Bronze breath weapons are a bolt of lightning and a cloud of repulsion gas. Their abilities include water breathing, conversing with animals, and immunity to electricity. Bronze habitats are generally in caves which are only accessible from the water. This is due to their love of water and roaming the seas to hunt for pearls and treasure. Bronzes converse with dolphins and whales for information on the sea, and detest pirates, and will willingly disable/destroy their ships. Brass DragonsBrass dragons are long-winded talkers, who may have useful information, but will talk off the subject, and hint that a gift may jog their memory. They are not aggressive, and prefer to talk than fight. If a powerful foe attacks them, young Brass dragons will flee and hide. Brass dragons can cast spells and use magical abilities at 6th level. Their breath weapons are a cone of sleep gas and a cloud of blistering desert heat. Brass abilities include conversing with animals, immunity to fire and heat. Their habitats are in high caves in deserts or dry steppes, and they prefer caves facing towards the sun. Whilst not the bravest of good dragons, they are dedicated parents. If their children are attacked, a brass will fight to the last. Copper DragonsCoppers dragons are the most playful of the good-aligned dragons. They enjoy playing pranks, telling jokes and riddles. They are selfish and greedy and not good losers. Coppers taunt their opponents, attempting to make them mad and rush into combat unprepared. Copper magical abilities and spell level are at the 7th tier. Their breath weapons are a cloud of slow gas or a acid blast. Coppers' natural abilities are immunity to acid and spider climb (climb stone surfaces with the agility of a spider). Their habitats are caves in rocky mountains, and they prefer to conceal the entrance by moving the earth or stone with their magical abilities. They construct mazes with open tops in their lairs, so that if need be they can escape over the heads of intruders. Red DragonsRed dragons are considered the most powerful of the evil dragons. They are greedy, vain and self-confident. They will usually attack humanoid races with talon/fang so as not to destroy any treasure they can gain. Reds magical ability and spell level is at the 9th tier. Their breath weapon is a cone of fire, and they naturally have an immunity to fire. Their habitats are often large caves in the hills or mountains. They consider their domains to be everything they can see from their lair. Reds are highly aggressive and will fight any creature which enters their domain, especially good-aligned dragons. Blue DragonsBlue dragons are the most loyal and possibly the most intelligent of the chromatic dragons. They have served the evil humanoid armies of Takhisis on several occasions, and have been the favored mounts of the Knights of Takhisis, due to their loyalty to the end. Blues are territorial and aggressive creatures. They enjoy flying in the hot desert air during the day. They also prefer to fight from a distance, so as to cause little injury to themselves and devastate opponents with their breath weapon. Blues also possess magical abilities and use spells in combat up to the 7th level. They will not flee from combat unless severely injured, considering fleeing to be cowardly. The blue's breath weapon is a bolt of lightning and they are immune to electricity. They also possess the ability of hallucinatory terrain (able to change the appearance of terrain to make themselves invisible to opponents). Blue dragon habitats are in deep caverns in deserts or in arid plains. They hoard treasure, particularly gems and have a deep love of sapphires. Blues are watchful of any intruder in their domain, but openly hostile to brass dragons. They will not rest until a brass intruder is dead or driven off. Green DragonsGreen dragons are cruel, bad tempered and notoriously cunning. They love intrigue and enslave/kill any creatures in their domains. Greens are highly aggressive and will attack any creature of any size almost immediately. If a creature interests the dragon, then they will stalk the creature instead. Greens like to interrogate humanoid races to learn of their activities and of any treasure. They can cast spells and use magical abilities at 6th level. Green dragons breath weapon is a cloud of poison chlorine gas and they are immune to gases. Their habitats are underground lairs beneath forested areas, where they like to roam. They will often ally themselves with evil-aligned creatures within forests, who serve as their spies and informants in exchange for their lives. Despite their foul nature, if attacked, a Green parent will sacrifice its own life to protect it's young. Black DragonsBlack dragons are the most aggressive and cunning of the chromatics. They prefer to ambush enemies and like to attack humanoid races. If faced with a powerful foe, a black will flee and hide in a deep pond or bog. Their breath weapon is an acid blast and they can cast spells at the 5th level. Their special abilities are water breathing and immunity to acid. Black habitats are swamps, marshes and jungles. If a family of Black dragons is attacked, the parents will protect their young. However, if at any point, the parents lives are at risk, they will flee and abandon their children. White DragonsWhite dragons are the smallest and weakest of the chromatics. They are very low in intelligence, but are great hunters and effective scouts. Whites cast spells and use magical abilities at the 5th level. Their breath weapon is a cone of frost and they are immune to cold. White habitats are icy caves and deep underground lairs in cold and freezing regions. They protect their young until hatched and then leave their children to fend for themselves by watching and learning from the parents. Fire DragonsFire dragons were created by Chaos in mockery of real dragons. Their bodies are comprised of molten lava and magma. If a creature moves within 20 ft of a fire dragon then it suffers damage from heat. Fire dragons are evil-aligned and will not ally themselves with anyone except for Chaos and wizards/dark priests of Chaos who are 25th level or higher. They cannot cast magic but do possess the special ability of destroying matter (once a day) with their touch. Their breath weapon is a mix of poison, scorching and superheated gases. Shadow DragonsShadow dragons are sly, cunning and careful. They dislike bright light and complete darkness, preferring a mix of the two, so they can dwell in shadows. Shadow dragons will always attack from hiding and almost never ally themselves with anyone. Their breath weapon is a cloud of blackness which temporarily blinds their foes and saps their life force. They also have to ability to cast illusion/phantasm spells to confuse and misdirect their foes. Shadow dragons magical abilities and spell casting is at the 6th level. Shadow dragons dwell within ancient ruins in underground lairs, preferably near to colonies of other creatures which they can prey upon. The origins of the shadow dragons are steeped in mystery, however it is commonly believed that they were originally created by Chaos. Sea DragonsSea dragons are one of the most feared denizens of the water. They are considered to be graceful, beautiful and powerful. Sea dragons prey upon ships for food and treasure. They wait for a ship to pass above them and then rise up and capsize it. Their breath weapon is a cloud of scalding steam. Sea dragon habitats are generally in deep sea caves. Brine DragonsBrine dragons are an odd mutation on the traditional dragon. They resemble plesiosauri far more than a dragon. They cannot fly or walk on land, and are solely ocean-going creatures. Brine dragons do not have claws, but they do have flippers, which allow them to manoever quickly in the water. They also have oversized teeth and their breath weapon is a salt/alkaline spray that functions underwater in the same way that acid functions on land. Brine dragons have a love of salt, and can often be found in salt marshes. Their bodies absorb salt through osmosis as they swim through the water. Their residences are generally coral or rock formations, which they fashion with their breath weapons. Amphi DragonsAmphi dragons are a cross between a green dragon and a sea dragon. They cannot fly and have the appearance of a giant toad. Amphis are considered as an ugly half-breed by other dragons. Like their counterparts, the sea dragons, they also prey upon ships for food and treasure. Their breath weapon is an acid blast. Amphis special abilities are color-shifting, immunity to acid, and tongue lash (where they can catch foes much like a frog catches a fly). They dwell almost anywhere within the seas. KodragonKodragons are an extremely rare species of dragon, which chiefly reside in the Astral Plane. They are miniature dragons, around the size of a cat, and have fine gray fur rather than scales. Kodragons still have the usual leathery wings and are extremely intelligent. They do not lay eggs like usual dragons, but rather have live births, much like many other mammal creatures. They also have opposable thumbs which allow them to work tools. Even for their size, they can be fearsome foes when provoked. Kodragons are neutral creatures and are patient quiet dragons. Their breath weapons consist of a shrinking gas and a remedy for shrinking gas. They also frequently teleport and planeshift at will. Kodragons only consume liquids and generally stay in deep remote lairs in the Astral, far away from most other creatures so they can ponder the mysteries of the multiverse. Mosquito DragonsMosquito dragons are less than an inch long and are oftentimes confused for mosquitos. They live solely on the Dragon Isles and come in red, silver, gold and black varieties. They possess the same breath weapons as their larger counterparts, however the damage that they can do is obviously to a much lesser extent. They travel in swarms of 20 or more and live in nests in hollow trees or cracks in the earth. Like their larger brothers, they also hoard large amounts of treasure. They are considered a 'rare breed' of dragon and are widely believed to have been created by a mage long ago, and allowed to develop and procreate. Grey DragonsAlso known as ethereal dragons. Grey dragons are neutral dragons who left the material plane long ago. They closely resemble white dragons, however they have a permanent mist surrounding them, which tends to make them look blurred. They have golden eyes and bony plates along their spines. They tend to communicate telepathically with other sentient creatures, however they can speak if needed. Their breath weapons are of a cone of disorienting mist, and a beam of light which sears creatures and can destroy undead. Grey dragons are akin with astral dragons and also with ki-rin. They tend to dwell in otherdimensional realms, and almost never set foot in the Prime Material Plane. Astral DragonsIn the world Krynn, astral dragons are extremely rare. They reside only within their own plane, and enter other planes (including the Prime Material Plane) only when forced. All dragons can trace their bloodlines back to the astral dragons. They are immensely powerful and also near-immortal. Their numbers are but a handful, and to even sire a new pair of hatchlings, astral dragons must petition the gods for approval. Krynnish astral dragons are golden in color, and emit a permanent golden light. They exist in bonded pairs and are linked by a 100ft golden chain (forged by the gods of neutrality) for all eternity. They do not like to involve themselves in combat, and will generally cast spells to avoid combat, even though they could destroy most foes if they chose to. Their near-immortality means they cannot be killed by most methods, the only way in which to kill an astral dragon is by casting extremely powerful death magic. Their spell-casting ability is equal to that of a 35th level cleric. OthlorxThe Othlorx (also called 'The Uninvolved') are the dragons who reside in Taladas. Some of the chromatics refused to fight for Takhisis during the War of the Lance, for this affront, Takhisis cursed them and made them into cowardly creatures. These dragons hide away from others and generally avoid any kind of conflict at all. The metallics who refused to fight in the War of the Lance were made neutral. They are not as deeply affected as the chromatics, however their attitudes are vastly different from their Ansalonian counterparts. They are much more detached from the world and it's happenings. Turtle DragonsTurtle dragons are probably one of the rarest types of dragons on the Prime Material Plane. They are gargantuan creatures with no wings, powerful legs and a tail, and are covered in a huge green tortoise shell. Their intelligence is no match for any other type of dragon, however they do possess a fearsome breath weapon and are physically quite powerful. Their breath weapon is that of a cloud of superheated steam. They tend to keep to themselves, although they will generally attack any noticably large vessel or creature that encroaches on their territory. DracolichesDracoliches are undead creatures created by magic from the remains of chromatic dragons. If recently dead then they look similar in appearance to as they did in life, except that their eyes appear as glowing lights. Otherwise then they will look like skeletal/semi- skeletal dragons. Dracoliches can speak, cast spells (same level as they did in life), and use their original breath weapons. They retain the intelligence and memory of their former life, and will sometimes seek vengeance upon their "rebirth". Dracoliches have a natural ability to cause immense dragonfear in opponents, and are inherently immune to most types of dragon breath weapons. They dwell in large underground caves, and like to hide the entrance to their lairs with magic. Dracoliches love to hoard treasure, and will sometimes interrogate humanoid creatures about locations of treasure.
